About Sandra Miller Linhart - Page 2

Ms. Linhart's formal education includes CA Barstow College, where she studied and excelled in Art & Design, as well as receiving a degree in Sociology, focusing on family and child psychology, both of which would be of great use to her when she had both a family and children of her own.

Ms. Linhart also attended the University of Georgia, where her picture book manuscript, Daddy's Boots received the 2005 Dixie Lee Connor Award for Best Children's or Young Adult Manuscript at the Harriette Austin Writers' Conference in Athens, GA.

Ms. Linhart's writing is informed by many of her observations as a military wife of over 20 years. Finding literature to read to her five daughters which cast the job their father did in a positive light, rather than denigrating the military, was mostly an exercise in futility. Daddy's Boots got its spark of creation from Ms. Linhart's desire to rectify this noticeable absense of positive portrayals of the men and women of the armed services and their heroic sacrifices.

Ms. Linhart currently resides in Colorado where she's knuckle deep in her second installment of the Jones, JEEP, Buck & Blue book series, Stuck In The Middle, which follows the foursome's adventures in Middle School. Additionally, she's working on a YA book series, Hallie Of The Harvey Houses. Two additional picture books are in production and are due out in early 2011; Pickysaurus Mac and What Does A Hero Look Like?
